Bitcoin tumbles to $76,000 as collapsing AI trade drags stocks sharply lower (CoinDesk)
Bitcoin fell about 5.2% to just under $76,000 as a sharp selloff in AI and tech stocks dragged down broader risk markets, as reported by CoinDesk. Ether dropped about 7.5%, while XRP and Solana each fell roughly 5.5%, and more than $1 billion in leveraged crypto positions were liquidated.
Democrats to Push Broader Crypto Market Structure Bill After Sweeping US Midterms: Report (Decrypt)
House Democrats are reportedly planning a broader crypto market structure bill after winning control of Congress in the U.S. midterms, as reported by Decrypt. The proposal would build on Maxine Waters’ earlier Crypto Investor and Consumer Bill of Rights, give the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission more authority over crypto markets, and reduce the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission’s role. Analysts say the existing CLARITY Act now faces a tougher path, but crypto regulation may be becoming more bipartisan, with 27 candidates endorsed by Stand With Crypto already winning their races.
Institutions embrace crypto staking despite shrinking yields (CoinDesk)
Institutional interest in crypto staking is growing even as rewards decline, as reported by CoinDesk. Ethereum reached a record 43.8 million ETH staked, or 35.9% of supply, while Solana’s active stake climbed to 440.5 million SOL; meanwhile, Ethereum’s average annual staking yield fell to 2.63% and Solana’s to about 6%. Industry firms say easier custody access, staking ETFs, and greater familiarity are encouraging more investors to stake, though higher participation means rewards are being spread across more capital and could potentially continue to shrink.
