Bitcoin, gold trim early losses as yen gives up gains. Oil stays near $100 (CoinDesk)
Bitcoin recovered to nearly $82,000 during Friday’s Asian trading after dipping below $81,000 overnight, as reported by CoinDesk. Gold and Asian stocks also rebounded as the Japanese yen gave up its early gains. About $435 million in crypto futures positions were liquidated, mostly bullish bets, while gold bounced to around $4,020 and oil stayed near $100. US spot Bitcoin ETFs also saw about $381 million in outflows on Thursday, which could limit further upside. Traders are still watching oil prices and broader macro conditions, which could keep Bitcoin volatile in the near term.
Ethereum’s four-minute settlement plan could lower the cost of moving crypto (CoinDesk)
Ethereum researchers have proposed cutting the time for transactions to become fully final from about 16 minutes to roughly four minutes, as reported by CoinDesk. Faster settlement could reportedly lower costs for services that move crypto between blockchains because they would have less money tied up while waiting for transactions to clear.
Bitcoin ETFs Erase October Losses With $1 Billion in Three Days (Decrypt)
U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs brought in about $1.07 billion over three trading days, enough to erase earlier October losses and put the month about $460 million in the green, as reported by Decrypt. Wednesday saw $524.8 million in inflows, while Monday’s $526.7 million came entirely from BlackRock’s IBIT. Bitcoin itself was still down about 2.4% to around $81,470, showing that ETF demand improved even as the price remained under pressure.
